Prime Minister Sushila Karki has urged all sides to participate in and help make the upcoming elections successful by embracing them as a national festival.
Extending greetings on the occasion of Chhath festival on Monday morning, Prime Minister Karki appealed to everyone to seek approval for their positions or grievances through the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 4 (Fagun 21).
She also called on all citizens to remain committed to national unity, harmony, and democratic values.
In her message, Prime Minister Karki highlighted the need for greater unity and harmony among Nepalis in the current situation. She stated that Chhath, a festival inspired by truth, non-violence, and love for nature, has played a vital role in strengthening cultural and social bonds between the Terai and the Hilly regions.
“Street protests alone do not solve all problems. Even if there are certain stands or dissatisfaction, they should be presented peacefully and approved by the people through elections, which is the best practice of democracy,” she said in her message. “Therefore, I call upon all sides to treat the upcoming election as a national campaign, participate actively, and help ensure its success.”
Referring to the current political context, she further added, “We have the responsibility to normalize the situation after the GenZ movement and conduct the House of Representatives election on March 4.”
