Prime Minister Sushila Karki held a meeting with officials from the Election Commission at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari, along with Commissioners Dr. Janaki Kumari Tuladhar and Sagoon Shamsher Jabara, briefed the Prime Minister on the preparations for the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5 (Falgun 21).
Prime Minister Karki inquired about the commission’s readiness, coordination with political parties, the party registration process, and the ongoing voter list registration activities.
Earlier, the Prime Minister had issued a video directive calling for measures to make the voter registration process smoother after reports of difficulties surfaced.
At a time when political uncertainty among major parties is growing, this meeting between the Prime Minister and the Election Commission is being viewed as politically significant.
