Prime Minister Sushila Karki is set to hold talks with Durga Prasai, coordinator of the Civil Rescue Mega Campaign. A high-level meeting between the two has been scheduled to take place by Poush 15.
Prime Minister Karki’s Chief Advisor Ajayabhadra Khanal informed Prasai of the scheduled meeting through an official letter. The government has stated that continuous dialogue is already underway after forming a negotiation committee under the coordination of Minister for Communications Jagdish Kharel.
Through the letter, the government has also informed Prasai about five key issues that need to be addressed immediately. These include initiating the process to withdraw criminal cases filed against Prasai and other activists following the Tinkune incident on Chaitra 15; ensuring that landless squatters and scrap business operators are not displaced from their current locations until alternative arrangements are made; resolving problems related to banks, microfinance institutions, cooperatives, and other financial institutions; making decisions on issues such as a Hindu state including Kirat and Buddhist traditions, abolition of provinces, and the monarchy through a referendum; and increasing student quotas for medical education, including nursing, MBBS, and MD programs.
