Private schools in Nepal will remain closed today and tomorrow to mourn those killed in the Gen-Z movement.
Organizations affiliated with private schools—including the Nepal Montessori Association, Open, HISSAN, National PABSON, and PABSON—issued a joint statement announcing a two-day closure on Bhadra 24 and 25 (September 9 and 10, 2025).
The statement expressed grief over the loss of many young lives and students during the protests, noting that hundreds of injured individuals are still under treatment in hospitals.
“This unimaginable tragedy has deeply pained us all. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, pray for the eternal peace of the departed souls, and wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” the release said.
The school bodies said the mourning leave decision was made in solidarity during this painful moment that has shocked not only the education sector but the entire Nepali society.
