Former Prime Minister and Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has expressed confidence that unity talks with CPN (Biplav) will reach a positive conclusion.
On Monday morning, Prachanda visited Biplav’s residence in Harisiddhi.
Both sides reported that during the approximately 45-minute meeting, discussions focused on strengthening the Socialist Front and advancing party unity.
Prachanda conveyed his belief that since the Standing Committee has already decided on unity, Biplav’s party would also take a positive decision. In response, Biplav stated that the matter would be decided at the Central Committee meeting scheduled for Bhadra 22.
According to Prachanda’s personal secretary Govinda Acharya, the meeting was more familial and observational, with a focus on Biplav’s agricultural farm, rather than strictly political.
Sources indicate that Prachanda and Biplav agreed to revive the former CPN and have also consented to hold talks with leaders of the Unified Socialist, including Chair Madhav Nepal.
Discussions are ongoing regarding leadership positions, with Prachanda–Nepal suggested for Chair and Biplav for General Secretary.
