Chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rabi Lamichhane, has declared that the upcoming election will put an end to widespread misgovernance and disorder in the country.
Addressing a public gathering in Dhangadhi, Lamichhane said the era has begun where citizens will not merely cast votes but enter into a “contract” with their leaders. He stressed the need to end the long-standing political culture in which public issues are repeatedly used only as election agendas without meaningful resolution. Claiming that his party has signed a written “five-year contract” with the people for the first time in Nepal’s history, he expressed hope for a stable five-year government.
Lamichhane stated that leaders who fail to fulfill their promises should face punishment and that his party has entered the political arena to end the cycle in which the public always suffers the consequences.
Addressing Nepalis working in Sudurpaschim, he urged them to take leave if necessary and come to vote. He emphasized that not only the structure of Singha Durbar but also its working style and intent must change. He accused old parties of spreading the illusion that bulldozers would be used to evict poor settlements, asking, “Who ran bulldozers over the dreams of the people for the past 35 years?”
He added, “The shutter on the rights of the people, the issues of Sudurpaschim, and problems such as unemployment and illiteracy must now be closed. This is the time to write history, not just cast a vote. From now on, when leaders fail to fulfill promises, it will not be the people who suffer. Those who make promises will be punished, not the public. For that, a stable five-year government is necessary. This is the first time any party has signed a written contract with the people.”
Calling for the complete elimination of corruption and disorder, the Rastriya Swatantra Party has urged voters to cast their ballots for the “bell” symbol under both the first-past-the-post and proportional representation systems.
