Leader Ram Kumari Jhakri, who recently rejoined the CPN-UML, has claimed that her return was not motivated by personal gain or political opportunity.
Addressing a gathering at the ‘Ghar Farka Abhiyan’ (Return Home Campaign) organized at the National Assembly Hall on Monday, Jhakri said she joined the UML to stand alongside thousands of party members committed to creating opportunities for the nation.
“It’s better to sit together under one roof than to sigh separately,” she said, calling on the youth to unite under the UML banner. “Ram Kumari Jhakri has never chased personal opportunities — not yesterday, not today. I have joined this movement to help create opportunities for thousands of party members, not for my personal benefit.”
Jhakri also criticized those who, in her words, “tried to claim ownership of the Gen Z movement while being involved in acts of violence, burning down buildings of Singha Durbar, the Supreme Court, and private enterprises.” She said it was now time for them to be held accountable.
According to her, while the Gen Z movement represented the frustration of a generation, some opportunists used it to attack the then government and promote destruction.
“What happened in the name of Gen Z was, in essence, a direct assault on the government,” she stated.
Praising CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli as a “nationalist leader,” Jhakri added, “The UML is not only the main current of Nepal’s communist movement but also the party that embodies the ideals of democracy, development, good governance, and prosperity.”
She further asserted that even if the election is held on March 5 (Fagun 21), the UML remains the true defender of the people and national sovereignty.
