On the occasion of Kag Tihar, the first day of the festival of lights Tihar, artist Ramesh Dulal, popularly known as ‘Kage’, organized the 22nd Crow Conference in front of the main gate of the Narayanhiti Palace Museum in Kathmandu.
The event was co-organized by Top Rajdhani Rodhi and Greencity Hospital Basundhara. Early in the morning at around 5:45 AM, Dulal performed a special artistic act that attracted crows to the venue. As soon as he produced the sound of a crow, numerous crows gathered around the palace premises.
Dulal, a multi-talented artist, can mimic the sounds of 173 kinds of animals and birds, including crows. He can also produce the musical sounds of instruments such as madal, sanai, sarangi, piano, drum set, murchunga, and guitar using only his mouth.
According to Dulal, he has been organizing this Crow Conference every year on the day of Kag Tihar for the last 22 years. Sometimes it has been held at Ratnapark, sometimes at the airport area, and sometimes with social awareness themes. However, this year’s conference was organized purely for cultural purposes, he said. Audiences appreciated his effort to preserve the religious and cultural tradition of honoring crows as messengers of Yama, the god of death, and to raise public awareness.
The main sponsors of the program were Modern Rapti Real Estate and Bharat Bishwakarma.
