The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has concluded its extended two-day meeting in Chitwan, adopting an 11-point resolution. Around 400 invited representatives from across the country participated in the meeting, which discussed the nation’s current political situation, the upcoming House of Representatives election, issues of public livelihood, and internal party transformation.
During the meeting, Acting President DP Aryal presented the political report, Vice President Dr. Swarnim Wagle presented the concept of the election manifesto, General Secretary Kavindra Burlakoti presented the organizational report, Joint General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya presented the candidate selection framework, and Secretariat Member Deepak Bohara presented the report on the signature campaign.
Discussions on all five reports were held in seven groups, and the suggestions gathered will be reviewed and adopted by the central committee.
The meeting urged the government to ensure that the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 is conducted in a free, fair, and fearless manner. It also drew the government’s attention to make arrangements for Nepalis living abroad to vote.
The RSP called on all its structures, members, and well-wishers to actively engage in effective campaigns to win public trust and support in the upcoming election.
Condemning the inhuman incidents during the recent Gen-Z movement, the meeting demanded an impartial investigation and punishment for those responsible. It also emphasized the need to ensure meaningful participation of the new generation in state mechanisms in line with the spirit of the movement.
The meeting further stressed strengthening internal democracy and inclusivity within the party and committed to addressing reform demands through legitimate processes, ensuring participation of members at all levels in decision-making.
To build a strong alternative political force, the RSP decided to prioritize dialogue and cooperation with like-minded reformist groups.
The party stated that the case filed against Party President Rabi Lamichhane was motivated by political revenge and urged the judiciary to reach a fair and swift conclusion through an impartial judicial process.
Due to unexpected political circumstances and the upcoming election in Falgun, the party announced it will be unable to hold its general convention on the pre-scheduled date. Instead, it has asked the central committee to prepare for the convention within six months after the election.
The RSP has also decided to allocate 27% of proportional representation seats to youths aged 25–40 years and 10% to Nepali diaspora candidates. Additionally, those who became proportional representatives in 2079 BS will not be eligible for re-nomination under the same category.
