Speaking to journalists after a “Broad Political Dialogue” organized by the party on Friday, RSP leader Shishir Khanal said that continuous talks are being held not only with Ghising but also with other independent personalities.
Khanal hinted that if RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane and Kulman Ghising reach an agreement, there could be internal discussions about making Ghising the party’s chairman.
However, he clarified that any such decision would require a logical basis and approval from the party’s central committee.
“If Rabi Lamichhane and Kulman-ji agree on such a proposal, it will still need central committee approval. Discussions should happen on rational grounds,” Khanal said.
He added that the RSP is in dialogue with Ghising, members of Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah’s team, the Bibeksheel Party, and several young figures contributing meaningfully to society though not publicly prominent.
“Talks are ongoing — with Kulman-ji and others. We were in talks yesterday, we are today, and will continue tomorrow as well,” Khanal stated.
Amid debates over whether the party should accept an “imported chairman,” Khanal clarified that the RSP remains open to bringing respected individuals into significant positions, but not based on conditional arrangements.
He emphasized that such dialogues are essential to strengthen RSP as a more powerful alternative political force in the upcoming elections.
