The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has called for the implementation of a system allowing Nepali citizens living abroad to vote in upcoming elections.
Speaking at an all-party discussion organized by the Election Commission, RSP Deputy General Secretary and Lumbini Province in-charge Bipin Kumar Acharya urged the commission to ensure that Nepalis residing overseas are granted the right to vote starting from the upcoming by-election.
Acharya proposed that the process be launched as a pilot project during the by-election in Rupandehi-3, scheduled for Kartik 17 (early November).
He added that with three months remaining before the election, there is ample time to address the necessary technical and legal frameworks required to facilitate overseas voting in that constituency.
