Lakshman Paswan, accused of murdering Rubi Kumari Sah of Madhavnarayan Municipality–6 in Rautahat, was arrested Wednesday morning.
Paswan reportedly set himself on fire but was rescued by locals near Rajdevi Temple on the Madhopur–Shivnagar road. Police took him to Better Nepal Hospital in Garuda, and later referred him to Kirtipur Burn Hospital for further treatment, according to DSP Rajan Karki of Garuda Police.
Prior to the incident, Paswan recorded a video admitting to killing Sah “under compulsion,” which surfaced on social media.
DSP Raju Karki of Rautahat District Police confirmed that investigations have identified Paswan as the perpetrator. Sah’s body had been discovered in a suitcase along the Gaur–Gangapipra road near Mudwalba on Saturday night.
