Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Mumbai Indians by 18 runs in the Indian Premier League on Sunday night in Mumbai.
Batting first, RCB posted a massive total of 240 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. Phil Salt and Rajat Patidar made key contributions. Salt smashed 78 runs off 36 balls, hitting six sixes and six fours. For Mumbai, Trent Boult, Hardik Pandya, Mitchell Santner, and Shardul Thakur took one wicket each.
Chasing a target of 241 runs, Mumbai managed 222 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their full 20 overs. Sherfane Rutherford remained unbeaten on 71 runs from 31 balls, striking nine sixes and one four. Hardik Pandya added 40 runs off 22 balls, including six fours and a six. RCB’s Suyash Sharma claimed two wickets.
In the earlier match on Sunday, Gujarat Titans secured their second consecutive win by defeating Lucknow Super Giants by 7 wickets.
Batting first, Lucknow scored 164 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Gujarat chased down the target in 18.4 overs, losing just 3 wickets. Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna delivered an excellent performance, taking 4 wickets. Gujarat captain Shubman Gill completed his half-century in 34 balls while chasing the 165-run target.
On Monday evening at 7:45 PM (Nepali time), Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.
