The Hetauda Road Division Office has announced that road expansion work has been suspended after receiving an interim order from the Supreme Court on December 6 (Mangsir 21).
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Road Division Chief Guru Prasad Adhikari said the expansion work under the National Highway Boundary Protection Program 2082, within Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City, has been put on hold due to the court’s order issued on December 4 (Mangsir 19).
A day earlier, on Saturday, bulldozers were used to demolish hundreds of structures inside Hetauda as part of the highway boundary expansion. Around 500 houses were demolished in a single day. The Road Division stated that affected families have been given two days to remove belongings from the demolished structures.
