Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chair Rajendra Lingden has warned that his party will take to the streets if the government fails to form a high-level commission to investigate the visit visa scandal.
Speaking to the press in Jhapa on Sunday, Lingden said his party would continue obstructing parliament until the demand is met, adding that if necessary, they could even join forces with the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) for street protests.
“In the visit visa case, we had said the Home Minister should resign to uphold morality and assist in the investigation,” Lingden said. “Even if he does not resign, the government must form a commission. If found guilty, he can be punished later.”
According to him, the public is closely watching as Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire continues parliamentary proceedings despite the obstruction, and the government side remains indifferent.
“We will at least continue our protest throughout this session,” Lingden added. “If necessary, both RPP and RSP may hit the streets together.”
On a different note, Lingden clarified that he is ready to correct any mistakes made in the process of entrusting responsibilities to new leadership within his party and move forward accordingly.
