Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) General Secretary Dhawal Shumsher Rana has urged the party leadership not to engage in any activities that could affect the upcoming General Convention.
Speaking to the media in Kathmandu on Sunday, Rana stressed the importance of conducting the convention, scheduled for Mangsir, in a fair and smooth manner. He called on all sides to ensure a free environment for the selection of representatives without obstruction.
Rana expressed concern that unilateral decisions by the party leadership to remove leaders and seek clarifications had created anxiety among RPP cadres nationwide. “Such one-sided decisions against party statutes have created problems,” he said, adding that these actions could demoralize party members ahead of the convention.
He firmly committed that the RPP would not split under any circumstances, despite differences over leadership. “The chairperson is the guardian of the party and must move forward by uniting everyone. Unilateral decisions are unacceptable,” he said.
Rana also emphasized that there should be no delay in fixing the convention date. He highlighted the need to maintain party unity and adhere to the party’s constitution, urging leadership to conclude the convention transparently by accommodating all factions.
“The General Convention must be held on time and fairly. No side should be placed at a disadvantage,” he said, warning that dissatisfaction over the leadership’s working style could weaken the party if not addressed.
He expressed confidence that respecting the sentiments of cadres and moving forward inclusively would further strengthen the RPP.
