The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) continued their protest in the House of Representatives on Thursday, demanding the formation of a high-level investigation committee to probe the ongoing visit visa scandal.
As soon as the session began, lawmakers from both parties stood in protest. Speaker Devraj Ghimire then allowed RSP lawmaker Shiva Nepali to address the House.
In his remarks, Nepali said concerns had been raised over Nepal’s territories, including Lipulekh and Kalapani, being used by neighboring countries, and urged the government to act promptly to safeguard national territory. He accused the government of shielding human traffickers instead of focusing on controlling corruption and improving people’s livelihoods. Nepali also warned that Parliament would continue to face obstruction until a parliamentary probe committee on the visit visa issue is formed.
RPP lawmaker Dhruva Bahadur Pradhan also pressed for the creation of a judicial investigation committee, urging the Speaker to take initiative to address the demand. He alleged that a network of middlemen was behind the scandal and stressed that everyone involved should be brought under investigation.
Following his remarks, lawmakers from both parties boycotted the session. The RSP and RPP have been continuously obstructing the House since May 26, demanding a high-level probe into the visit visa scandal.
