Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Amresh Singh has won the election from Sarlahi Constituency No. 4, defeating Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa.
Singh secured 35,688 votes, while Thapa managed to receive only 22,831 votes.
Singh began his political journey through the Madhesi Jana Adhikar Forum and later joined the Nepali Congress, where he became active in politics. He was elected from the same constituency in the 2013 and 2017 House of Representatives elections. Later, after not receiving a ticket from the Nepali Congress in the 2022 election, he contested as an independent candidate and won again.
Thapa, who had previously been elected from Kathmandu-4, contested from the Madhes region for the first time.
He had become a member of the Constituent Assembly through the proportional representation system in 2008. In the second Constituent Assembly election, he was elected from Kathmandu-4, and he also won from the same constituency in the 2017 and 2022 elections. In 2013, he also served as the Minister of Health.
