Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leader Dr. Toshima Karki has said that the party cannot be imagined without its founder and president Rabi Lamichhane.
Speaking to journalists after a “Broad Political Dialogue” organized by the RSP on Friday, Dr. Karki emphasized that instead of focusing on leadership change, the party should prioritize institutional and organizational restructuring.
“Rabi Lamichhane is the founding president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party. He established this party, and you cannot imagine the institution without its founder,” she said.
Dr. Karki clarified that the term “central leadership” should refer not to an individual but to institutional bodies such as the central committee, office bearers, and secretariat. “When I talk about central leadership, I mean the unit, not a single person. There is a need for review and reorganization there,” she explained.
She further stressed that the RSP should not get stuck in status quo politics, but rather internalize the essence of the Gen-Z movement and move forward accordingly. “Why did our younger brothers and sisters have to take to the streets and even face bullets while we were present? The RSP must reflect on that,” she said.
Dr. Karki expressed that the RSP should now aim to evolve not only as an alternative force but also as a mainstream, centrist political power, bringing together other alternative movements under a common agenda against corruption and for good governance.
“This dialogue marks the beginning of that shared agenda,” she added.
