The sale and distribution of petroleum products such as petrol, diesel, and kerosene in bottles, jerrycans, or other open containers has been prohibited throughout the election period, Assistant Chief District Officer Janak Sharma said.
According to a decision made by the District Security Committee, all petrol pumps and fuel sellers must be officially registered with the concerned authorities to operate. Individuals or entities that are not registered will not be allowed to sell or distribute petroleum products.
The District Administration Office has also stated that selling fuel at prices higher than the fixed rate, creating artificial shortages, hoarding unnecessarily, or misusing fuel for purposes other than election-related activities will not be permitted. Fuel will be supplied only in required quantities to vehicles involved in essential services—such as ambulances, hospitals, security agencies, and election-related operations—based on recommendations from the concerned authorities or official identification.
“To implement this arrangement, regular and surprise inspections will be conducted in coordination with the District Administration Office, security agencies, and the Nepal Oil Corporation. Individuals who violate the decision of the Security Committee will face fines, suspension or cancellation of licenses, and other legal actions as per prevailing laws,” Assistant Chief District Officer Sharma said.
Petroleum dealers, transport entrepreneurs, and the general public have been urged to strictly comply with the decision and to immediately inform the administration or security agencies if any suspicious activities are observed.
