Duduwa Rural Municipality has announced a holiday for all schools on Friday due to forecasts of strong winds and thunderstorms.
The decision was made after the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology issued a warning of heavy storms, lightning, and rainfall from Friday to Saturday morning, prioritizing the safety of children.
According to Rural Municipality Chairperson Narendra Chaudhary, there is a risk of falling trees, damaged weak structures, blown-off roofs, and disruption to electricity and communication services due to strong winds. Residents have been urged to remain cautious.
The weather department has projected wind speeds of up to 119 km/h in parts of Lumbini Province and Koshi Province, particularly in Terai areas including Nepalgunj and Dang.
The rural municipality has requested everyone to stay alert as weather conditions remain unstable.
Similarly, Kohalpur Municipality has also issued a public notice urging caution. Municipal Police Chief Bir Bahadur Thapa advised residents to avoid staying under weak structures, tall trees, electric poles, and wires, and not to touch hanging wires or use electrical devices during storms.
Meanwhile, disaster management authorities in Banke have issued a high alert, urging the public to take necessary precautions to ensure safety.
