The seven-party alliance in Madhes Province boycotted an all-party meeting called by Province Chief Dr. Surendra Labh. The meeting, scheduled for today, became ineffective after leaders and members of the alliance did not attend.
According to the coalition parties, they were compelled to boycott the meeting because current Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav—whom they claim was appointed unconstitutionally and sworn in at a hotel—was present in the meeting.
Ram Ashish Yadav, Chief Whip of JSP Nepal, stated, “The seven-party alliance boycotted the meeting because an unconstitutionally appointed Chief Minister, who took his oath in a hotel, was participating.”
Province Chief Dr. Labh had called the all-party meeting in an effort to resolve the escalating political crisis in Madhes Province.
