Seven political parties continued their protest in Janakpurdham on Sunday against what they allege to be the unconstitutional formation of the Madhes Province government.
The alliance has been staging a sit-in in front of the Madhes Building, demanding the dismissal of the Chief Minister and claiming that the provincial government was formed in violation of the constitution.
Bharat Sah, a Province Assembly member from the Maoist Centre, stated that their protest is directed against the unconstitutional actions taken by the former Province Chief. He expressed confidence that the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the appointment of the Chief Minister would favor the Madhesi people.
Nepali Congress Chief Whip Kumar Kant Jha also said that they would honor the Supreme Court’s verdict, adding that the seven-party alliance would discuss the next steps of their movement after the decision.
The seven-party alliance includes the Nepali Congress, Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal, Janamat Party, CPN (Maoist Centre), Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) Nepal, CPN (Unified Socialist) and the Nagrik Unmukti Party.
On Sunday, the alliance members staged a sit-in carrying the national flag of Nepal.
