Following the appointment of a CPN-UML Chief Minister in Madhes Province, seven political parties have launched protests against the move.
In a statement issued on Tuesday night, the alliance announced plans to hold demonstrations on Wednesday, calling for a boycott of the newly appointed Chief Minister and ministers. The parties urged people not to participate in any programs involving them.
The seven-party alliance stated that they will organize a peaceful protest on Wednesday morning, condemning the “unconstitutional” appointment of Saroj Kumar Yadav from CPN-UML as Chief Minister by then Provincial Head Sumitra Sudevi Bhandari.
On Tuesday, the alliance had already staged protests demanding the annulment of the Chief Minister’s appointment and the protection of the Constitution, federalism, and the federal democratic republic.
The parties strongly condemned the police’s use of force — including baton charges, tear gas, and what they described as “brutal suppression” — against peaceful demonstrators. They also demanded action against the security personnel involved in the assaults during Tuesday’s protest.
The alliance has appealed for a public boycott and protest against CPN-UML Madhes Province Parliamentary Party leader and Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav and other members of his cabinet, who were sworn in at the Panash Restaurant near the Mahottari–Sindhuli border.
