The protest was organized by the Nepali Congress, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), CPN (Maoist Centre), Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LOSAPA), Janamat Party, CPN (Unified Socialist), and Nagarik Unmukti Party.
Leaders, cadres, and provincial lawmakers from the seven-party alliance marched through Gaur, chanting slogans demanding the cancellation of the Chief Minister’s appointment.
Anil Singh, a leader of LOSAPA, said the protest was aimed at defending the Constitution, federalism, and the federal democratic republic. Calling the appointment of Chief Minister Yadav unconstitutional, Singh reiterated the demand for its annulment and also called for the resignation of Speaker Ramchandra Mandal.
The protesters condemned the use of force during previous demonstrations and demanded action against those involved.
Earlier, on Tuesday, 74 provincial lawmakers from the seven parties (excluding CPN-UML) jointly filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court, challenging the Chief Minister’s appointment.
The alliance has accused Province Chief Sumitra Subedi Bhandari of misusing Article 168(3) of the Constitution to appoint the Chief Minister in an unconstitutional manner.
