Chairman of Shankar Group, Shankar Agrawal, has been released after completing his statement with investigators.
The Department of Money Laundering Investigation said Agrawal was freed today after his statement was recorded. Director General Thakur of the department confirmed his release. Agrawal had been arrested three days ago as part of an ongoing money laundering investigation.
Shankar Group has investments in Nepal across sectors including steel, cement, and hydropower. Earlier, the group’s executive, Sulabh Agrawal, was also taken into custody during the investigation.
