Shankar Pokharel has been elected as the General Secretary of the CPN-UML. According to a member of the Election Commission, Pokharel defeated his rival Surendra Pandey in the final results announced after Thursday’s voting.
Pokharel secured 1,228 votes, confirming his victory in the party’s 11th National General Convention.
