A bus accident in Shankharapur Municipality-3, Kathmandu, on Wednesday evening has claimed five lives. Police spokesperson SP Pawan Bhattarai reported that 32 people were injured, with 23 still receiving treatment in various hospitals.
Fatalities
- Kamana Sharma, 49, from Kohalpur-5, Banke (resident of Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu) – died at Teaching Hospital around 12:00 a.m. during treatment.
- Indira Limbu, age unspecified – died at Stupa Community Hospital, Chuchepati, at 7:24 p.m.
- Shanti Gupta, 55, from Pathivara-5, Taplejung (resident of Pepsi Cola, Kathmandu) – died at NMC Hospital at 7:49 p.m.
- Debendra Limbu, ~65, resident of Gothatar – died at NMC Hospital at 7:30 p.m.
- Arjun Lamichhane, 60, from Jorpati, Gokarneshwar – died at NMC Hospital at 11:10 p.m.
Accident Details
- Occurred around 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
- Bus registration: BA-4 Kha 8788 (Metropolitan Transport).
- Bus was returning from a picnic organized by Nature House & Herb International Company.
- Driver: Dhruv Prasad Regmi, 32, from Bardibas, Mahottari (residing in Bal Kumari, Lalitpur).

- Five injured were treated and discharged.
- 23 injured continue treatment in hospitals including Shankharapur Hospital, Mulpani Nagar Hospital, Sushma Koirala Hospital (Sankhu), Nepal Medical College (Jorpati), People’s Life Care Hospital, Teaching Hospital, Medicare Hospital (Chabahil), Dirghayu Hospital, and BnB Hospital.
