Shivanath Rural Municipality in Baitadi district has declared a four-day local public holiday on the occasion of traditional religious fairs.
According to Rural Municipality Chairperson Karnasingh Saud, holidays have been announced to mark the fairs held at the Shivanath Temple and Dehigada Bhagwati Temple.
The holidays will be observed on Kartik 11 and 12, and Kartik 18 and 19 as per the decision made at the chairperson level. A notice issued by the rural municipality states that Kartik 11 and 12 have been declared public holidays on the occasion of the fair at the famous Shivanath Temple.
The local public holidays were announced to ensure greater participation of locals in the cultural and religious events. Devotees from neighboring parts of India also attend the annual fair at Shivanath Temple.
The fair is held every year on Kartik Shukla Saptami and Ashtami at Shivanath Temple.
