Ishwari Devi Naupane, a Member of Parliament, has been elected unopposed as the Chairperson of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives.
By 4 PM today, Naupane was the sole candidate for the position, leading to her unopposed election. However, the official announcement will be made tomorrow. The committee will formally hold the election during its meeting at 3 PM tomorrow.
For her nomination, Nepali Congress lawmaker Ramhari Khatiwada acted as the proposer, while CPN-UML lawmaker Krishnagopal Shrestha was the seconder.
Earlier today, Naupane resigned as Chairperson of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee and subsequently registered her candidacy for the State Affairs Committee leadership.
The Nepali Congress office bearers’ meeting held earlier today decided to nominate her as the committee’s chairperson candidate.
