Six people were injured when an electric microbus met with an accident on the Prithvi Highway at Satra Sayau in Abukhaireni Rural Municipality–1 on Friday evening. The microbus, bearing registration number Ba Pra 01-002 Ja 8518 and heading toward Pokhara from Kathmandu, went out of control and collided with the road divider.
Out of the 12 passengers on board, six sustained injuries. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shravan Kumar Bik of the District Police Office, two of the injured are in serious condition, four are moderately injured, while the remaining six passengers are in normal condition.
Those seriously injured include the EV driver, approximately 23-year-old Manish Kunwar of Namo Buddha Municipality, Kavrepalanchok, and 21-year-old Anjali Pun of Chamere Gufa, Pokhara Metropolitan City, Kaski. Kunwar suffered internal injuries to his abdomen and chest, while Pun sustained a severe head injury and is unable to speak. Both were referred to Purano Medical College, Bharatpur, Chitwan after initial treatment.
Moderately injured passengers include 19-year-old Dhiraj Yadav of Madhav Narayan Municipality–1, Rautahat; 20-year-old Adarsh Sunar of Anamnagar, Kathmandu Metropolitan City; 23-year-old Raj Balami of Thaha Municipality–9, Makwanpur, who was serving as the assistant driver; and 20-year-old Ichha Limbu of Hilihang Rural Municipality–3, Panchthar. Police said all of them are conscious and receiving necessary treatment, with assistant driver Balami also referred to Purano Medical College for further care.
Initial treatment of the injured was carried out at Abukhaireni Hospital. The Area Police Office, Abukhaireni, said that further investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
