The faction advocating for a special general convention of the Nepali Congress has sent invitations to party President Sher Bahadur Deuba and other senior office-bearers.
Leader Subas Pokharel said that the invitations were extended to inform the party leadership, including President Deuba, about the preparations for the special general convention. He added that all preparatory work for the convention has been completed, according to the secretariat.
Meanwhile, senior leader from the establishment faction, Gopalman Shrestha, has said that he will participate in the special general convention. Pokharel also stated that leaders who have been advocating for party unity, including Dr. Chandra Bhandari and Dr. Sunil Sharma, have confirmed their participation.
Although five provincial presidents and 47 district presidents of the Nepali Congress have openly opposed the special general convention, the organizers have claimed that more than 60 percent of general convention representatives will take part in it.
