An overnight stone attack has targeted the contact office of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) located at the house of Jayaram Adhikari in Kamal Rural Municipality–2 of Jhapa Constituency No. 5.
The RSP had established the contact office on the upper floor of the house to plan election strategies and for candidate Balen Shah to meet with local residents. According to Jhapa police spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, an unidentified group suddenly pelted stones at the building late at night.
As a result of the attack, the glass of one window was shattered. DSP Khadka said that although the RSP had rented only one room, the stone pelting also damaged window panes in the portion of the house occupied by the homeowner.
RSP senior leader Balen Shah is contesting the election from Jhapa–5 this time. Police have prepared an on-site report and launched an investigation, stating that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible.
