The United Student Organization staged a protest against Indian and Chinese conspiracies to encroach upon Lipulekh by turning it into a trade route. The demonstration took place on Saturday in front of the Indian Embassy in Lainchaur, demanding an end to foreign interference in Nepalese territory.
During the protest, Akhil Krantikari President Virendra Shah accused the government of failing to take meaningful diplomatic initiatives despite repeatedly claiming it would do so. He emphasized that the government must take this matter seriously and make it a subject of formal discussion. Shah pointed out that although foreign secretary-level committees have been formed multiple times regarding Lipulekh, India eventually backed out of negotiations.
Shah added that even if India is willing only for discussions, Nepal possesses ample evidence to assert its claim. He urged that the issue should be internationalized and taken to an international court to fight for the country’s territorial rights.
Protesters carried placards with slogans such as “Protect national sovereignty,” “Lipulekh is ours,” “Stop interference in Nepali territory,” “Indian army, leave Kalapani,” and “Immediately revoke decisions encroaching on Nepali land.”
