The final match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) Season 2 is being held today. Sudurpashchim Royals and Lumbini Lions will compete for the title in the final match scheduled for 3:30 PM on Saturday at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
Sudurpashchim secured their place in the final by defeating Biratnagar Kings in the first qualifier. Lumbini Lions, on the other hand, reached the final after beating Kathmandu Gorkhas in the eliminator and then overcoming Biratnagar Kings in the second qualifier.
Last season’s runners-up, Sudurpashchim Royals—who lost the final to Janakpur Bolts by five wickets—are aiming to clinch the championship this time. They topped the league table after winning six of their seven league-stage matches, suffering their only defeat against Biratnagar Kings.
Sudurpashchim Royals are led by captain Dipendra Singh Airee, while Lumbini Lions are captained by Rohit Paudel. Lumbini, who were eliminated in the league stage last season, have shown remarkable improvement this year and are targeting their first NPL title with an impressive performance throughout the tournament.
