The Supreme Court of Nepal has scheduled a regular hearing for Falgun 22, a day after the election set for Falgun 21, in connection with the writ petition filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives.
Advocate Kritinath Sharma Paudel, one of the petitioners, shared the information. Earlier, on Kartik 12, the Constitutional Bench had conducted a preliminary hearing on 16 writ petitions and ordered the defendants to submit written responses within seven days, excluding travel time.
Subsequently, lawmakers from the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) and the Nepali Congress also filed separate writ petitions. Although written responses have been submitted by all defendants, the court has so far only assigned a regular hearing date. Only the preliminary hearing has been completed, and the date for further proceedings has not yet been determined.
The writ petition claims that the dissolution of the House of Representatives and the appointment of the current Prime Minister, Sushila Karki, are unconstitutional. The petitioners have demanded that the President’s decision be annulled.
