The Supreme Court of Nepal has ordered the submission of the original file in connection with the writ petition filed by medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai.
A joint bench of Justices Dr. Nahakul Subedi and Meghraj Pokhrel issued the order on Monday.
Prasai was arrested on Falgun 4 following a complaint from the Election Commission Nepal, citing her expressions and activities allegedly aimed at disrupting the elections.
Demanding her release, Prasai’s family had filed a habeas corpus petition at the Supreme Court. While hearing the petition, the court directed that the original file, including the Election Commission’s decision to write to authorities for investigation and action, be obtained through the Office of the Attorney General.
The court has also scheduled the next hearing for Tuesday, Falgun 12.
