The Supreme Court has issued an order requiring that Durga Prasai be presented before the court. Hearing a habeas corpus petition, a bench led by Justice Meghraj Pokharel also directed authorities to provide the reasons for his detention.
Durga Prasai was arrested by police at midnight on Monday from his residence, accused of making provocative statements that endangered peace and security.
Prasai’s son had filed the habeas corpus petition. Prasai is currently being held at the Kathmandu District Police Range.
