The Supreme Court of Nepal has ordered that the writ petition challenging the decision to withdraw charges of organized crime and money laundering against Rabi Lamichhane, chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, be sent to a full bench for hearing.
According to the Supreme Court administration, after the preliminary hearing, the joint bench of Justices Binod Sharma and Abdul Aziz Musalman ordered that the case be referred to the full bench for final adjudication.
Former Attorney General Savita Bhandari Baral had withdrawn the organized crime and money laundering cases filed against Lamichhane during the government led by KP Sharma Oli.
In response, separate writ petitions were filed by Yubaraj Poudel, senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi, and advocate Abhas Regmi challenging the withdrawal decision.
The full bench will now conduct the final hearing on the matter.
