The Supreme Court of Nepal has scheduled a hearing on a writ petition challenging the withdrawal of the charge sheet against Ravi Lamichhane, Chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), in cases related to cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering.
The hearing will be held before a bench comprising Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla and Justice Shreekant Paudel.
The petition was filed by senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi, law student Ayush Badal, and Yubaraj Paudel Saphal after Attorney General Savita Bhandari directed the District Public Attorney Offices to amend the charge sheets in Lamichhane’s ongoing cases across multiple districts.
Despite applications being submitted in the Kaski and Rupandehi District Courts as per the Attorney General’s instruction, the cases could not be heard in the Supreme Court as they are still under consideration there.
According to the Attorney General’s office, the District Attorney Offices in Kathmandu and Parsa have not yet submitted the applications to amend the charge sheets against Lamichhane and others.
