A suspect involved in the kidnapping and ransom demand of a seven-year-old girl in Saptari District has been sent to judicial custody.
Following an order from the Saptari District Court, the accused was remanded to Rajbiraj Prison for pre-trial detention.
According to the District Police Office Saptari, on the evening of Falgun 5, 30-year-old Imtiaz Ahmad kidnapped Aasu Khatun (also known as Neha Khatun), daughter of Imran Khan, from Bisanpur, Khadak Municipality–89.
After the incident, a joint police team from the Area Police Office Kalyanpur and District Police Office Saptari immediately began searching for the girl.
During the investigation, on the morning of Falgun 7 around 11 a.m., the kidnapper contacted the girl’s father and demanded a ransom of NPR 10 million in cash and 5 kilograms of gold, according to police spokesperson Dambar Bahadur Puri.
Police apprehended Ahmad the same evening at Khando Khola in Rupani Rural Municipality–1
