The Tanahun District Administration Office (DAO) has provided services to nearly 15,000 citizens in the first quarter of the current fiscal year. Although service delivery faced disruptions following the Gen Z protests on Bhadra 23 and 24, the office continued functioning amid challenges, according to Chief District Officer (CDO) Ramkrishna Adhikari.
During the protests, the office building suffered vandalism and arson, which led to a complete halt in services for a few days. However, after repairs and alternative arrangements, all services are now operating normally.
According to CDO Adhikari, the office provided:
- 5,388 National ID cards
- 3,659 passports
- 3,607 citizenship certificates
- 1,213 recommendation/verification services
- 434 grievance responses
- 398 institutional registrations/renewals
- 140 minor identity cards
- 65 firearm renewal and transfer services
Citizenship Distribution and Renunciation
In the three-month period, the DAO distributed 3,601 citizenship certificates:
- 1,724 new and 1,877 duplicates
- Among new citizenships:
- 1,714 by descent (father’s basis)
- 5 by descent (mother’s basis)
- 3 non-resident citizenships
- 2 matrimonial naturalized citizenships
- 933 women and 791 men received new citizenships
- For duplicate citizenships:
- 920 women and 957 men
Additionally, six individuals (2 women and 4 men) renounced their Nepali citizenship during this period.
Monthly breakdown:
- Shrawan: 1,479 citizenships
- Bhadra: 1,036 citizenships
- Asoj: 1,086 citizenships
Other Services
- 140 minor identity cards issued (135 new, 5 duplicates)
- 1,653 passports distributed and details of 2,000 individuals collected
- 5,388 people’s details collected for National ID cards
- 10,536 National ID cards forwarded to respective municipalities for distribution
Despite the setbacks caused by the protests, the DAO has restored operations and continued providing essential public services efficiently.
