Taranath Niraula of Biratnagar Metropolitan City has been appointed as the Vice-Chairman of the Koshi Province Planning Commission. The decision was made during the Koshi Province Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday. The cabinet approved the resignation of former Vice-Chair Dr. Rajendra Adhikari, effective from Kartik 20, and decided to appoint Niraula to the position.
Niraula holds a Master’s degree in Sociology and a Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology from Tribhuvan University. He has served as an expert for both provincial and federal governments in the areas of local-level planning, capacity building, and criteria development. He also contributed as an expert during the preparation of the second periodic plan of the Koshi Province Government.
He has teaching experience as well, having taught for one year at Hatisar Campus in Dharan, 14 years at Makwanpur Multiple Campus in Hetauda, and one year at Mahendra Morang Adarsha Multiple Campus in Biratnagar.
Additionally, Niraula has long experience working in local governments. He served in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City from 2051 BS to 2057 BS and in Biratnagar Metropolitan City from 2057 BS to 2070 BS, handling responsibilities in various departments including food technology. He also has over 10 years of experience in the banking and financial sector.
