Teachers dissatisfied with the School Education Bill staged a sit-in protest at the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) office on Wednesday.
The Nepal Teachers’ Federation organized the protest at the party’s Dhumbarahi-based office, accusing the government of failing to fully implement past agreements reached with them.
Federation Chairperson Laxmikishor Subedi said that while the bill contains several positive provisions, it has ignored key concerns of teachers and staff, as well as many issues agreed upon earlier. He added that the sit-in at political party offices is aimed at drawing attention to their demands so they can be incorporated during parliamentary deliberations.
Subedi further announced that the federation will unveil the second phase of protest programs on September 6 (Bhadra 21).
