The identities of ten out of the twelve people who lost their lives in a bus accident near Manthali, the district headquarters of Ramechhap, have been confirmed. According to Manthali Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Keshav Singh Dhami, the deceased include Bhim Bahadur Tamang, Sanumaya Tamang, Ramita Tamang, Tara Tamang, Bobby Tamang, Dipendra Basnet, Dipesh Basnet, and Man Kumari Baruwal from various wards of Likhu Tamakoshi Rural Municipality in Ramechhap.
Similarly, Shiv Shrestha of Golanjore, Sindhuli, and Man Bahadur Tamang of Dolakha have also been identified among the deceased. The identities of two other victims have not yet been established.
Police Deputy Superintendent Bhola Bhatt said that eight people, including the bus driver, were injured in the tragic accident. The injured are currently receiving treatment at Shubha Jeevan Hospital in Khurkot, Manthali Hospital, and Tamakoshi Hospital.
Police have taken the bus driver into custody, while search and rescue operations for other passengers are ongoing. The bus, operated by Arniko Yatayat and bearing registration number Province 03-01-005 Kha 9975, was traveling from Kathmandu to Okhaldhunga when it veered off the road and plunged about 100 meters down into the Tamakoshi River at Manthali Municipality–6, Masantar, on Tuesday morning.
