The tenure of House of Representatives Speaker Devraj Ghimire and Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar has officially ended as of today. Their term concluded from the day political parties began submitting proportional representation candidate lists for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21.
According to the Constitution and prevailing legal provisions, once the process for the House of Representatives election formally begins, the tenure of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker automatically comes to an end.
During their time in office, Ghimire and Rana Magar played key roles in strengthening parliamentary practices, conducting legislative processes, and upholding parliamentary decorum. With the election process underway, the House of Representatives has now entered a phase of preparation for a new public mandate.
