At a press conference on Friday, the Department of Immigration announced that the government had amended the visit visa standards, replacing the previous provisions, including the six-point guideline implemented on Magh 10, 2080 BS (January 24, 2024). The revision was approved by a ministerial-level decision on Kartik 13 (October 29, 2025).
According to the department,
“This provision is effective from today. Therefore, all Nepali citizens are requested to travel with full awareness about their destination and journey, without being influenced by any brokers or intermediaries.”
The department has also instructed local governments and District Administration Offices to ensure that all citizens are well-informed about the new standards.
Under the new provisions, Nepalis traveling abroad on a visit visa must have:
A passport valid for at least six months,
A valid visa for the destination country,
An air ticket to the destination, and
Required travel documents, along with a self-declaration taking personal responsibility for any outcomes arising from the trip.
The government emphasized that the revised standards aim to ensure safer and more transparent foreign travel for Nepali citizens.
