Police have arrested three individuals accused of stealing firearms from a police station and engaging in criminal activities during the Gen-Z youth protests on August 23 and 24.
According to Kazi Kumar Acharya, spokesperson and Superintendent of Police at the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, those arrested are:
- Nikesh Vik (25), originally from Bagmati Rural Municipality-7, Makwanpur, currently residing in Kathmandu-28, Bagbazaar
- Suraj Vik (25), also from Bagmati Rural Municipality-7, Makwanpur, and living in Bagbazaar
- Balkrishna Gaire (25), from Dhorpatan Municipality-3, Baglung, currently residing in Kathmandu-28, Bhriikuti Mandap
SP Acharya said the arrests were made based on special information that they had stolen weapons during the protests and were involved in various criminal activities.
Police recovered:
- One pistol with serial number CF 98–900104008236
- One magazine for the same pistol
- Another pistol with serial number Type 54–55011133
The three suspects have been handed over to Kathmandu District Police Range, Bhadra Kali, for further investigation and legal action under the Arms and Ammunition Act.
