The District Police Office Dang has informed that 30-year-old Ramesh Rana Magar of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City–4, Halwar, and 24-year-old Bikram Pariyar of Tulsipur–6 were arrested on Friday night.
Earlier, police had also arrested 55-year-old Buddh Bahadur Basnet of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City–7, Kalakhola, in connection with the same incident.
On Thursday night, individuals gathered at Birendra Chowk in Tulsipur, Dang, to welcome Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party. During the gathering, a flag of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) was set on fire. After a video of the incident surfaced, it drew widespread criticism.
The UML has objected, alleging that Rastriya Swatantra Party cadres were involved in burning the flag. In protest, torch rallies and demonstrations were organized on Friday evening in Tulsipur, Dang, as well as in Kathmandu and other locations.
Dang police stated that a search is ongoing for others involved in the flag-burning incident.
