Dhungana outlined three key demands that will shape the foundation and political roadmap of his new party:
- Directly Elected Executive Prime Minister
Dhungana argued that political instability in the country can only end by introducing a system where the Prime Minister is directly elected by the people. He believes this model would ensure political stability, accountability, and strong leadership. - Voting Rights for Nepalis Abroad
Highlighting the contribution of millions of Nepali migrant workers, Dhungana said Nepalis living abroad must be granted voting rights. He stressed that those who contribute significantly to Nepal’s economy deserve a voice in national decision-making. - Anti-Corruption Citizen Structure
To eliminate widespread corruption, Dhungana proposed creating a strong citizen-level watchdog mechanism. This would ensure transparency, accountability, and good governance within state institutions.
Will Not Participate in Elections Until Demands Are Met
Dhungana made it clear that his party will not participate in any elections until these three demands are constitutionally guaranteed. He said:
“Forming a political party doesn’t mean we will join the existing corrupt electoral system. We will not participate in elections until Nepal adopts a directly elected Prime Minister system, ensures voting rights for Nepalis abroad, and builds a citizen-led anti-corruption structure.”
Preparations are underway to formally register the new party, and Dhungana has called for nationwide support from citizens frustrated with the traditional political leadership.
